Privacy Policy — Modern Store Locator

Modern Store Locator ("the App"), provided by ModernWeb.tech ("we", "us", "our"), helps Shopify merchants display their physical store locations on their online storefront. This Privacy Policy describes what data the App accesses, how it is used, and merchants' rights.

1. Data We Collect

When a merchant installs the App, we receive and store:

  • Shop identifier — the merchant's *.myshopify.com domain, plan tier, and Shopify-provided access tokens, used to authenticate API requests.
  • Store location data — names, addresses, phone numbers, business hours, and latitude/longitude coordinates that the merchant enters or imports through the App.
  • Subscription data — plan tier (Free / Pro), subscription status, and Shopify-issued subscription IDs.

We do not collect or store data about the merchant's customers, orders, products, or shoppers visiting the merchant's storefront.

2. How We Use the Data

  • To display the store locator widget on the merchant's storefront.
  • To geocode addresses (via the Google Geocoding API) so locations can appear on a map.
  • To enforce plan limits and process subscription payments through Shopify's Billing API.
  • To respond to merchant support requests.

We do not sell, rent, or share merchant data with third parties for marketing.

3. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

Address strings entered into the App are sent to Google for geocoding. No other merchant or shopper data is transmitted to third parties by the App.

4. Data Retention

Store location data is retained as long as the App is installed. When a merchant uninstalls the App, all stored data for that shop is deleted within 30 days, in accordance with Shopify's mandatory data-erasure webhooks.

5. Merchant Rights

Merchants may at any time:

  • Export all stored location data via the "Export CSV" feature in the App admin.
  • Delete individual locations or all locations through the App admin.
  • Uninstall the App to trigger deletion of all associated data.
  • Request a copy of any data we hold by emailing info@modernweb.tech.

6. Security

Access tokens and subscription data are stored in an encrypted database. All communication between the App and Shopify uses HTTPS. We follow industry best practices for credential handling, including never logging access tokens.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for use by Shopify merchants and is not directed at children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to merchants via the App admin. Continued use of the App after such notice constitutes acceptance.
